NIT Srinagar Shines Bright: Climbs to 32nd in India Today Engineering Rankings 2025

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has made its mark once again, climbing to the 32nd position among engineering colleges in India in the India Today Engineering College Rankings 2025. This is a step up from its 33rd rank in 2024, showcasing the institute’s steady growth and dedication to excellence. Located on the scenic banks of Dal Lake in Jammu and Kashmir, NIT Srinagar is proving to be a hub of innovation and quality education.

A Proud Achievement for NIT Srinagar

NIT Srinagar’s rise in the rankings reflects its commitment to academic excellence, research, and student development. The institute retained its 23rd position among Government Engineering Colleges and improved to 22nd place among Top Technical Universities in India, up from 21st last year. These rankings highlight NIT Srinagar’s strong performance across various parameters, making it a preferred choice for aspiring engineers.

The institute scored an impressive 23 in both Admissions & Student Quality and Placement & Career Progression, showing its ability to attract talented students and provide excellent career opportunities. In other key areas like academics, research, infrastructure, and student development, NIT Srinagar scored 191.2, 190.2, 176.6, 92.6, and 184.9, respectively. With a total score of 835.5 and an overall score of 1369.2, the institute has demonstrated its all-around strength.

The credit for this achievement goes to the collective efforts of students, faculty, and staff. According to Prof. Babar Ahmad, Chairman of the NIRF cell, “This honor belongs to every student, teacher, and staff member who contributes to making NIT Srinagar a hub of learning and innovation.” The institute has worked hard to upgrade its facilities, including modernizing labs and revising curricula to meet industry needs. Dr. Vijay Kumar, the NIRF Coordinator, highlighted the role of active faculty research and thanked the Director, Registrar, and the NIRF team for their support. He also acknowledged the efforts of Junior Assistant Ajay Kumar in compiling and submitting the data that helped secure this ranking. Established in 1960, NIT Srinagar is one of India’s oldest technical institutes and was recognized as an Institute of National Importance in 2003. It offers a range of courses, including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc, and Ph.D. programs, across departments like Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and more.
