DC Kathua Orders PWD, PDD, and PHE to Restore Services Quickly After Rains
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, has directed the Public Works Department (PWD), Power Development Department (PDD), and Public Health Engineering (PHE) to act fast and restore services damaged by recent heavy rains in the district. The order came during a meeting held on August 28, 2025, at the Tehsil Office in Dinga Amb, as the region continues to face challenges from flooding and infrastructure damage.
Heavy rainfall has caused flash floods and landslides in Kathua, damaging roads, bridges, power lines, and water supply systems. Areas like Katli road on the Dayala Chak–Billawar stretch and Sanyal Bridge have been hit hard, with approach roads sinking and waterlogging affecting daily life. The DC visited these sites to assess the damage and stressed the need for quick action to help the affected people.

During the meeting, DC Sharma instructed PWD to temporarily restore damaged roads and prepare a long-term plan to fix the infrastructure permanently. He also directed PHE and PDD to submit detailed reports on the damage to water and power systems, ensuring repairs start immediately to restore normalcy.
The heavy rains have disrupted life in Kathua, cutting off villages, damaging homes, and leaving many without electricity or clean water. Fast restoration by PWD, PDD, and PHE is crucial to bring relief to residents and prevent further hardship. The DC’s focus on safety measures, like installing crates at Sanyal Bridge, shows his commitment to protecting the community.
The ValleyVibes.online team, with over 10 authors from Jammu and Kashmir, supports these efforts. We believe quick action by these departments will help Kathua recover and rebuild stronger after the rains.
