America’s ambassador-designate Sergio Gore met PM Modi
Gore, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday, said he had several excellent meetings with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
After meeting the Prime Minister, he said, “My meeting with Prime Minister Modi was incredible. We discussed bilateral issues including defence, trade and technology.”
“We also discussed the importance of critical minerals,” he said.
Gore said, America greatly values its relations with India and President Donald Trump considers PM Modi a great and personal friend.

Earlier, Gore met External Affairs Ministry S Jaishankar. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gore amid ongoing tension in relations over Washington’s imposition of 50 percent tariff on Indian exports.
Jaishankar said on social media, “Delighted to meet US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gore in New Delhi today. India-US relations and its global importance were discussed.”
“We wish him all the best for his new responsibility,” he said.
Relations between New Delhi and Washington are under severe strain after President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent, including an additional 25 percent duty on India’s purchases of Russian crude.
