Bengaluru Outer Ring Road closed for 45 days due to Metro construction: Check options
Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has announced temporary closure of a major stretch along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road to facilitate the ongoing metro station construction work by Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

According to the traffic advisory issued by HSR Layout Traffic Police on X, the service road from 9th Main Road Junction to 5th Main Road Junction will remain closed for 45 days from October 6, 2025. The closure is part of BMRCL’s metro expansion project, which aims to improve public transport across the city.

Motorists going from Ibblur towards Silk Board Junction have been advised to use the 14th Main Road flyover and continue along the main road to reach 5th Main Road Junction. Alternatively, they can use internal roads via HSR layout to reach Silk Board and Hosur Main Road.

Authorities have urged commuters to cooperate in diversions to reduce congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles during this period.

Although the ORR closure may cause inconvenience to some people, the city traffic police have simultaneously launched a signal synchronization initiative aimed at improving traffic flow on major roads.

Sharing an update on X, Anup A Shetty, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic West Division, posted a video demonstrating synchronized signals between Townhall Junction, NR Junction, PS Junction and JC Road near Police Corner Junction.

The move has been welcomed by commuters, who say it will provide significant relief from Bengaluru’s traffic jams.
