A case has been registered against Bihar MP Pappu Yadav for allegedly violating the model code of conduct after distributing money among flood-affected people in Vaishali district, officials said on Friday (October 10).

He said that a case was registered against Yadav, an independent MP from Purnia, at Sahadei police station on Thursday (October 9) night based on a complaint lodged by the district administration.

SP Lalit Mohan Sharma said, “A case has been registered on the basis of CCTV footage and the statement of an officer on election duty.”

He said that the matter is being investigated.

Voting for the assembly elections in the state will be held on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14.

The Model Code of Conduct comes into force as soon as the Election Commission announces the voting dates.
