Bihar Elections 2025: NDA finalizes seat sharing, BJP and JDU will contest on 101-101 seats

ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday, October 12 announced the final seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.

According to the formula, BJP and JDU will contest on 101-101 seats, while Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) will get 29 seats. Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest on six seats each. This is the first time in the history of Bihar elections that BJP and JDU are contesting on equal number of seats in alliance.

The seat-sharing agreement came after extensive deliberations in Delhi and Patna, involving senior NDA leaders including BJP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Vinod Tawde and Nityanand Rai, as well as talks with the LJP, RLM and HAM leadership. LJP chief Chirag Paswan, who had initially demanded 40 seats, agreed to a lower share of 29 seats.

According to CNN-News18 sources, while talking to party workers, Paswan said, “We stand strongly with the NDA. There is a need to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi for the welfare of Bihar.”

The BJP Core Committee meeting is going on in Delhi under the chairmanship of party president JP Nadda to finalize the names of the candidates. The first joint list of NDA candidates is expected on October 13.

243 members Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phasesVoting will take place on November 6 and 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14.

Meanwhile, the grand alliance comprising RJD, Congress, Left parties and VIP has not yet finalized its seat-sharing arrangement.
