Bihar Elections 2025: NDA seat-sharing almost finalised; The first list of candidates is likely to come by October 13.
News18 quoted sources as saying that the BJP is likely to finalize the seat-sharing arrangements in the next few days, while the first list of candidates is likely to be released by October 13.
The development comes a day after reports said that “all is not well” in the NDA as the parties were not able to reach a consensus on the seat-sharing deal.
According to News18, BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting will be held on October 12 and the decision on seat sharing will be taken.
The list to be released on October 13 will include the names of candidates from BJP, Janata Dal United (JDU), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
HAM is likely to get 15 seats
Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi demanded at least 15 seats in the alliance and said that it will win 8-9 of these seats and can become a recognized party.
Manjhi had written a poem on his ex (formerly Twitter account) on October 8. He had also indicated to journalists that if the party did not get a “respectable number” of seats, it would not contest the elections. However, this will still work for NDA.
Chirag Paswan’s LJP demands 45
Chirag Paswan’s LJP, which had earlier reportedly agreed to contest the elections from 20-22 constituencies, has increased its demand to 45 seats, according to senior party leaders, news agency PTI reported.
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party’s first list
Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party released its first list of 51 candidates on October 9.
This list includes names of many personalities from mathematicians to famous Bhojpuri singers, doctors and lawyers.
The party has also fielded its transgender candidate Preeti Kinnar. However, Kishor’s name was not mentioned, leading to speculation over which constituency he would contest from.
