‘Bomb its own people, restrictions massacre mass rape’: India puts Pakistan on UNSC
During his comment for the United Nations Ambassador Parvathanni Harish for his comment for the permanent representative “Women, Peace and Security”, in 1971, Pakistan operated the Operation Searchlight and approved a systematic campaign of the massacre of 400,000 female citizens by its army.
The Indian envoy said, “Every year, we are unfortunately ready to listen to Pakistan’s illusory tampering against our country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir, Indian territories are distinguished.”
“A country that bombs its own people, performs systematic genocide, can only try to distract the world with wrong and hyperbole,” Harish said.
He said that the world looks through Pakistan’s promotion.
On March 25, 1971, the Pakistani Army initiated a cruel action in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) Code ‘Operation Searchlight’, including comprehensive civilian killings.
Harish told the council meeting chaired by Russia that India’s record on “women, peace and security” agenda is impeccable and dissatisfied.
India’s strong response to the council came after Pakistan, in its statement, raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani representative said in his statement, “To exclude Kashmiri women from women, peace and safety agenda erases its legitimacy and reduces its universality.”
Harish also said in his comment that India is unwavering in his commitment to “women, peace and security” and is ready to share his expertise with partners, especially in the global south, promotes collective solutions for shared challenges.
He highlighted India’s frequent contribution to the United Nations Shantipal as an expression of his commitment to global peace.
He said, “Our contribution to separate the legacy of peace of India is not a measure of our contribution, but our leading recognition of women is in the form of indispensable agents of peace,” he said.
In the early 1960s, India deployed women medical authorities to the Congo, marking one of the early women serving women in the United Nations peace campaigns, the ambassador.
He said that it was not just a symbolic gesture, but a practical acknowledgment that women’s perspectives, skills and attendance are essential for effective peace system, he said.
In February 2025, India hosted the international conference on women’s peace soldiers from Global South, who bring women peace soldiers from 35 countries together.
The two-day gathering ranging from the challenges faced by women in the conduct of peace and addressing the technology for increased effectiveness.
He said that the conference was not only a platform for discussion, but a platform to develop actionable strategies to increase their impact in women’s participation and future peace missions.
