DC Reasi Visits Rain and Landslide-Hit Areas, Reviews Restoration Work

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik, conducted a detailed visit to rain and landslide-hit areas in Reasi district on August 28, 2025. Accompanied by officials from various departments, she inspected the damage and reviewed ongoing restoration efforts to help the affected communities recover quickly.

DC Nidhi Malik started her tour by checking the water supply lines damaged by a landslide at Sulla Road near IRP Chowk. She ordered the Jal Shakti Department to fix the pipelines immediately to ensure people have clean water again. Next, she visited the PMGSY Kheral–Jeri Road, blocked by a landslide, and directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to use JCB machines to clear the path and restore traffic flow.

She also listened to villagers’ concerns about the Gupta Ganga Road at Kasi Parta, which was washed away by flash floods. The DC instructed PWD to build a temporary crate wall and explore options for an alternate route until permanent repairs are done. Later, she inspected PWD quarters in Reasi, where sinking land threatens the buildings, and asked officials to find a safe solution. She also checked cracks on the DC Office road and ordered quick repairs.

DC Malik directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to repair damaged electricity lines and shift an electric substation to a safer spot. She emphasized providing power to the public as soon as possible. During her visit, she urged officials to stay vigilant, especially in hilly areas like Mahore and Dharmari, which are more prone to landslides.

After the inspections, DC Nidhi Malik chaired a meeting with Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Executive Engineers (XENs) from PWD and PMGSY, and other department heads. The SDMs shared updates on blocked roads and other issues in their areas. The DC instructed SDM Katra to divert traffic via Banganga Road due to the Katra–Reasi Road landslide, ensuring smoother travel for people.

The heavy rains and landslides have disrupted life in Reasi, damaging roads, water supply, and homes. DC Malik’s efforts to oversee restoration work show the administration’s commitment to helping people get back to normal.
