Delhi government to launch WhatsApp AI chatbot for birth, caste certificate applications
Delhiites can soon apply for important documents like birth and caste certificates on instant messaging app WhatsApp.
The Delhi government has identified over 50 departments that can provide services through the messaging app as part of the ‘Governance through WhatsApp’ initiative, officials told PTI. This means that services for people in the national capital will become faceless and more efficient.
Information Technology Department is working for development A bilingual chatbot in Hindi and English to help people apply for services and documents, upload required papers and pay fees.
PTI quoted a senior government official as saying that the WhatsApp service model will also have a dashboard that will allow officials to monitor updates in real-time and manage departments’ interactions with applicants.
He also reportedly said, without naming any company, that the government would eventually tie up with a tech company to design and deploy the system.
Currently, people can apply online for many services of 50 departments. Changes on WhatsApp will be powered by artificial intelligence,
In the past, the Department of Information Technology had handled the doorstep delivery of government services in Delhi under the previous regime.
