Deposit ₹60 crore for trip to Los Angeles, other international destinations: Bombay HC tells Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra
According to a report by Live Law, the HC decision came while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him in the ₹60 crore fraud case.
A division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Shri Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad, heard the couple’s plea on their foreign trip.
The petition included the proposed itinerary for international travel from October 2 to October 29 and thereafter from December 20 to January 6, 2026.
The court said the Look Out Circular (LOC) of the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) against the couple will remain in effect. As a result, they are unable to go abroad without the permission of the court or the investigating agency.
In respect of what was the LOC issued?
₹60 crore fraud The case was filed by Deepak Kothari, a businessman, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, he was induced by the couple to invest in their now defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd.
During the hearing, shettyThe lawyer told the court that the planned ‘vacation family trip’ was no longer possible, but Shilpa would have to travel to Los Angeles for a YouTube event between October 21 and October 24.
However, the complainant’s counsel said, “As per my knowledge, the applicant (Kinara and Shetty) are foreign nationals and hence there is a possibility (of not returning to India).”
During the hearing, the judges asked for communication details between the lawyer’s client and the organizers of a YouTube program, but the lawyer said that the client had received calls about it. After this the Chief Justice directed the lawyer to provide the phone number for verification.
CJ Chandrasekhar said the couple was not detained in the case as they had cooperated with the investigating agency. “You deposit the entire amount in this court and we will then consider the request, but subject to their arguments,” the CJ said.
After hearing both the sides, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till October 14.
Earlier in this case, the actor had to face interrogation by the EOW for about four and a half hours. LOC Charges were issued against him in September in a fraud case filed against Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra and another person in August.
