Himachal Pradesh tragedy: At least 15 people died due to landslide in Bilaspur
In Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, at least 15 passengers died and some others are missing due to heavy landslides in Bilaspur district. Officials told the media that two people had been rescued.

Rescue work is going on. The rescued people include two siblings, Aarushi and Shaurya.

NDRF Assistant Commandant, Karam Singh told ANI, “The incident took place around 6:50 pm. About 18 people were traveling in the bus. 15 bodies have already been recovered, 2 living victims can be evacuated and according to local authorities, another victim is still missing; our operation will continue until we find that person.”

The incident took place on 7 October around 6:50 pm in the Bearghat area near Barthin when a large part of a mountain slipped and fell on a bus carrying about 25 passengers. The bus was going from Marotan towards Ghumarwin.

Pawan Sharma, a resident, told ANI, “We were discussing yesterday that this point is really bad. The landslide was done here a week ago. The department removed the rubble a little and let everything stay there. Just every day at 8:45 am, Malari used to leave for Marontan at 8:45 am. It used to run twice a day.

President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah and JP Nadda and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge were among the leaders who mourned the loss of life and property in the incident.

Modi announced an ex -gratia amount of ₹ 2 lakh from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the families of each deceased, while the injured will get ₹ 50,000. Modi wrote on X, “I am saddened by the death of people due to an accident in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. In this difficult time my condolences are with the affected people and their families. I pray for the injured to recover early.”
