New Nissan Tatan C-SUV is taking 2026 to launch in India.
The name “Tatan” comes from Greek, which means “craftsman” or “architect”. Nissan says it reflects engineering excellence, performance and a premium identity.
Alphonso Albaisa, Corporate Executive, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. said, “All-new Nissan Tatan draws his design inspiration from our famous Nissan petrol … To establish a new benchmark in India and beyond, stylish, stylish, and built, designed, design and build quality are the best.”
The design of the Tatan is inspired by Nissan’s major patrol SUV. The company claims to collect inputs from design teams in India, Japan and UK before finalizing the look of SUV. The Teeton Nissan’s “One Car, One World” strategy is the second product and will be manufactured in Chennai for India and global markets.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor in India, said, “All-new Nissan Technology is going to be at the center of Nissan’s resurrection story and gives a glimpse in the future of our product portfolio in the country … This model will expand Nissan’s development story in India.”
The front has a C-shaped LED day-time running light that wrapped around the horizontally deployed LED headlamps and adds to the width of the vehicle. The light bar is highlighted by twin chrome slats and Nissan logo at the center. The design of a double C-shaped on the front fender represents the Himalayas.

The rear seques continue to connect the angular tail-lamp with the Edge-to-Edge LED light bar. The side profiles include flared wheel arches and an honest trend, while the back door handles are on columns.
Nissan has not yet disclosed the full interior, but it is expected to share the layout with the new Renault Duster, using trims for various materials, chrome accents and more premium looks.
Top variants feature an infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, rear AC vent, automatic climate control and many drive mode. The infotainment system will share hardware with the duster but will use brand-specific software and UI.
Security is expected to include six airbags and driver-help systems, although it is not clear whether ADAS Tech from the International Duster will be included.

Tekton is expected to be powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine, producing 154 HP and 250 Nm, which is combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Nissan has not confirmed if manual or AWD variants are available at launch. The 7-seat version is planned by the end of FY2026, as well as with a rarenalt-bad cybling.
The SUV will compete in the C-SUV segment, which includes Hyundai Buyer, Kia Celtos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyr, and will sit on top of the magnet in Nissan’s lineup.
