PM Modi welcomes agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of Trump’s peace plan
Modi said the agreement is also a reflection of the strong leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a post on Twitter, Modi said, “We welcome the agreement on Phase 1 of President Trump’s peace plan. It is also a reflection of PM Netanyahu’s strong leadership. We are hopeful that the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring relief to them and pave the way for lasting peace.”

Israel and Hamas said they have agreed to a ceasefire and hostage deal to end the war in Gaza, which has killed more than 67,000 people and reshaped the Middle East. Indirect talks in Egypt led to agreement on the initial phase of Trump’s 20-point framework to bring peace to the Palestinian territories.
“I’m very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed on to Phase 1 of our peace plan,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“This means that all hostages will soon be released and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as a first step toward a strong, durable and lasting peace,” Trump said.
Netanyahu said he would call a meeting of his government on Thursday to approve the agreement. “With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all of our hostages will be brought home,” he said in a statement. “This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.”
Hamas confirmed it had reached an agreement to end the war, saying the agreement included Israeli withdrawal from the enclave and hostage-prisoner exchanges.
