Priya Kapoor ‘greedy’ and ‘Cinderella stepmother’: Karisma Kapoor’s children in Delhi HC
The lawyer appearing for Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Raj Kapoor made this submission before Justice Jyoti Singh during the hearing of a petition challenging the will of their late father Sanjay Kapoor allegedly bequeathing assets worth ₹30,000 crore.
In Walt Disney’s 1950 film Cinderella, a young woman is abused by her stepmother, who focuses all of her attention on her two daughters.
The court on September 26 allowed Sanjay Kapoor’s wife Priya Kapoor to file the list of her assets in a sealed cover and suggested that the parties involved in the property dispute not share the details with the media.
The lawyer on Thursday accused Priya of being “greedy” and claimed that she has inherited 60% of the property and about 12% of the property to her son.
“He is also getting 75% confidence,” he claimed.
The lawyer accusing Priya Kapoor of forgery told the court that there was “enough evidence” to investigate.
The lawyer made this argument while demanding status quo on the movement of Sanjay Kapoor’s property.
“He is a nominated person and has assets. The extent to which the forgery of documents extends has to be disclosed and there is enough evidence to investigate,” the lawyer told the court.
The lawyer further said that Priya Kapoor was in “too much of a hurry” to restrict children’s participation.
“It’s the Cinderella stepmother,” he said.
The lawyer questioned the authenticity of the will, saying that prima facie Sanjay Kapoor had not consulted any lawyer while making the present will, and claimed that it was “not possible that he would not have consulted any lawyer before making the will and bequeathing such a huge property.” He said the executor of the will got it a day before it was read.
He claimed that the will was modified when Sanjay Kapoor was on holidays with his son, adding that whoever forged the document got a reward.
The court will resume hearing the case on October 13.
On September 10, the High Court had asked Priya Kapoor to give the list of her assets to the court.
Meanwhile, Priya Kapoor has informed the court that she has already received ₹1,900 crore from the family trust.
